The 4* Superior Das Edelweiss Salzburg Mountain Resort is a family-run Hotel located at the foot of the slopes in Grossarl and is a design Hotel of the highest quality. The Hotel has passed through several family generations and the latest phase of renovations with the wellness areas at its core has created the perfect blend of premium design and Alpine Chic.
The Panoramabahn ski lift is right next to the Hotel with skiing to and from the door, flexible stays are welcome and Salzburg Airport is just one hour’s transfer. The centre of Grossarl is a short walk from the Hotel and the local ski schools and hire shops are within 2 minutes walk of the Hotel.

The Hotel is family owned and managed by the Hettegger Family and has grown in size from a modest Alpine Guesthouse to one of the finest, modern Wellness and Design Hotels in the Austrian Alps with a wide choice of high quality rooms on offer.
The Hotel features an impressive and stylish lobby reception area, house bar, restaurants, lifts, car parking, underground parking, kindergarten, children’s play area, gym and fitness area and state of the art ski and boot lockers, one for each room. Free WiFi throughout.
‘Kork & Gloria’ is a dedicated Wine bar and Wine Cellar with an excellent selection of Austrian and International Wines. Weekly wine tasting events are on offer as are weekly Whiskey and Rum tasting sessions.
Edelweiss Mountain Spa - Sauna & Water Worlds
Adults and families have access to an extensive Spa, Wellness and Swimming oasis which includes an indoor pool, sports pool and adults-only infinity pool. Families can access the family area with an indoor pool, kids pool, a huge water slide park, whirlpool and selection of Saunas. On the 4th floor, the heated outdoor sports pool has a swim-through from a relaxation area where all are welcome and adults have further exclusive access to the top floor infinity pool.
On level 3, the Adults-only wellness area offers a wider wider range of Saunas and relaxation Areas to choose from including the ‘Vogelfrei’ quiet room with floating loungers.
A wide range of Health and Beauty treatments are on offer (local charge).
Please note that the local tourist tax of €1.10 per person (aged over 15) per night is not included in our rates and is payable locally.
Rooms
There is a wide choice of room types on offer and we offer the standard Double Alpenrose rooms (25m2) and Junior Suite Melissa rooms (38m2) which are traditionally decorated. Other rooms are available on a request basis at a small supplement and which offer a more contemporary alpine design. Rooms pictured are JS Melissa Deluxe and Alpenrose Deluxe rooms.
All rooms are finished to a very high standard with ensuite facilities, balcony, minibar, safe, flatscreen TV, radio, telephone and free WiFi. Bathrobes and slippers are provided.
Meals
Accommodation is offered on a half board plus basis with a strong focus on creative cooking using regional and organic cooking and the food is exceptional from breakfast to dinner. Vegetarians, vegans and special dietary requests are all catered for. An early bird breakfast is served from 6.30-7.30am with the main breakfast service from 7.30-10.30am featuring a truly extensive choice of hot and cold items from the central ‘Edelweiss Marketplace’.
Post skiing, you can enjoy an afternoon gourmet break served from 3-4 pm with tea, coffee and a selection of cakes, snacks and soups.
Dinner is four courses with a choice of Austrian, International and Vegan dishes, salad buffet, breads and spreads from the market place and a fine local cheese selection. Excellent wine menu. Weekly Gala Dinner.
Our opinion
This hotel is quite simply a destination in itself and sets the standard for outstanding design and Alpine Chic wellness facilities and rooms. Ski in, ski out with plenty of skiing to explore on the doorstep and more mileage to discover in the Ski Amade region.
