From gentle lakeside pathways to high-level multi-day hut-to-hut trekking tours, Austria offers literally tens of thousands of kilometres of trails. Routes are well sign-posted and lifts operate in the summer months to get you up the mountains quickly. Stop and recharge at charming mountain huts.
Life on 2 wheels - Cycling & Mountain Biking
There are countless miles of road cycling options and, for families and those looking for a gentler pace, the valley floors offer a network of off-road, flat and well-maintained biking routes and safe cycling paths. Mountain biking continues to explode in popularity with Saalbach and Leogang, in particular, offering a huge choice of trails from beginner blues to World Cup Downhill trails. E-Mountain bikes have revolutionised access to the mountain trails making the upward slog as easy as spinning in first gear on the flat (= more time enjoying the downhill and spectacular scenery!). Bike / e-bike rental is available in all resorts, and you can take bikes in most Gondola lifts.

Pop out of the top of any mountain Gondola Lift and you’ll find kids adventure playgrounds, family activities and welcoming huts and restaurants. Just take a look at our activities box to see what else is on offer.
Enjoy traditional Alpine Festivals, discover local food and drink, take a city break in Salzburg or Innsbruck or simply relax in the Hotel Spa. All this plus plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops to explore!
Where to go?
For resort towns with lots going on, plenty to see and do and a wide choice of accommodation, we recommend Mayrhofen in the Ziller Valley, Kitzbuehel in the Kitzbueheler Alps and stunning lakeside Zell am See. Mountain bikers should check out Saalbach & Leogang and, for our Fieberbrunn fans, we’re more than happy to arrange holidays here.

Getting there and getting around
Fly to Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria or Munich in Germany. From the airport, we can organise transfers to resort, you can hire a car (flexibility to trip around once in resort) or consider taking the train from the airport or even all the way from the UK (low carbon, super-efficient and great value). Once in resort, local buses are either free or low cost.
