Traditional village
Once voted winner of Europe’s prettiest village, the resort of Westendorf now finds itself at the hub of Austria’s largest skiing area.
Nestled in the heart of the Kitzbüheler Alpen mountains, new lift developments now means skiers in Westendorf have direct access to Austria’s largest inter-connected ski area - the Ski Welt - and the Kitzbühel ski area via Kirchberg. In total, a combined skiing and snowboarding paradise of no less than 449 kilometres of piste!
Westendorf has retained its friendly, informal atmosphere and is a great base for all ski abilities with plenty of après-ski to be had in its cosy bars and restaurants.

Westendorf has around 45 kilometres of piste locally and has long been part of the Ski Welt which offers 260 kilometres of runs (of which 210 kilometres have snow-making). A new lift built in 2008 replaced the bus connection to Brixen and Westendorf now has direct lift and piste access to Brixen and from there access to the resorts of the Ski Welt (Westendorf, Brixen, Soll, Scheffau, Ellmau) .
Westendorf also connects to Kirchberg via the Ki-West lift (and into the Kitzbuhel Ski Area – 170 kilometres) and finds itself at the centre of a whopping 449 km of piste!
The Kitzbuheler Alpen All-Star covers both the Ski Welt and Kitzbuhel Area and is around EURO 20 more expensive than the Ski Welt pass for a week.
Westendorf and its surrounding ski areas offer a huge amount of mileage for all levels of skiers and snowboarders and is ideal for keen intermediates.
Westendorf’s gentle nursery and beginner slopes are right next to the village and are ideal for progressing onto the local mountain.
Expert skiers will find some good challenges and off-piste in the Ski Welt and Kitzbuhel ski areas and there is the opportunity to tick off the world famous Hahnenkamm run in Kitzbuhel.
Though not huge, there is plenty of off-piste potential in Westendorf and the well-established freestyle fun park at Boarder’s playground is one of the region’s best. Founded by local legend Gogo Gossner, it offers professionally maintained kickers (including the 25 metre Big Mama!), waves, rails, boxes and a chill-out area.
There is a good choice of lively, traditional and modern bars and a good après-ski scene in Westendorf. The resort centre is pretty and compact with plenty of cafes and restaurants and other activities available locally include night skiing, sleigh rides, bowling, snow-shoe walks and tobogganing.
Please note that the resort of Westendorf is not staffed (Snowscape Resort Managers).
